IGGY & THE STOOGES To Play Detroit In August
June 12, 2003A reunited IGGY POP & THE STOOGES will play the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Detroit, Michigan on Aug. 14, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Tickets are expected to run from $22 for lawn seats to $48 for pavilion seats. Sale info is not yet available. Also scheduled for the bill: New York noise-rock outfit SONIC YOUTH.
Iggy, guitarist Ron Asheton and drummer Scott Asheton, who formed in Ann Arbor in 1967 and quickly became one of the area's leading live acts, collaborated on Iggy's upcoming solo CD in January in Florida — a move that has transformed into a full-fledged STOOGES album set for recording this summer.
The STOOGES CD will reportedly be released by Virgin Records, home to Iggy Pop's solo work since the mid-1990s.
Back in April, the threesome was joined by bassist Mike Watt for a well-received performance at California's Coachella festival, where they charged through songs from the group's first two albums.
